SpiceJet.com wins Best Website Award
New Delhi, February 1, 2010: SpiceJet, India’s most preferred airline, has won the Best Website Award for their booking portal www.spicejet.com. The award was given on January 28 at the recently concluded ‘World Low Cost Airlines Asia Pacific Conference’ at Singapore, by Dale Lawrence, Director, Corporate Communications, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). On behalf of SpiceJet, the award was received by Chief Commercial Officer, Samyukth Sridharan and Chief Technology Officer, Virender Pal.
SpiceJet won this award for its booking portal’s user friendly interface, relevant local content and transparent display of price. These qualities, apart from enabling SpiceJet consumers to make informed choices with ease, also made it possible for SpiceJet to beat the other nominees such as AirAsia, Jetstar and Air India Express to win the coveted award.
Speaking on the award, Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet said, “Customers have always been our focus and our website plays a vital role in interfacing with them, both for brand building as well as for commercial transactions.”
Virendra Pal, Chief Technology Officer, SpiceJet added, “Our website is designed to offer a simple and hassle free interface. We are delighted that our efforts have been recognized.”
Sharing his experience on the award, Shashank Nigam, CEO, SimpliFlying, and one of the judges said, “SpiceJet was in tough competition with the other nominees for the Best Website Award. The judges had a tough time deciding. In the end, more than just the website functionality, it was the friendly user-interface, customised content for local travellers, and the overall ease of usage, that helped it secure the award.” It is also notable that this year www.spicejet.com has shown a 30% increase in bookings as compared to the same period last year.
