SpiceJet Crosses 3 Million Passenger Mark
- The magic figure was achieved in 72 weeks
- Achieved the highest passenger average per aircraft among all domestic airlines
Hyderabad, 8th January 2007: SpiceJet, the fastest growing low – frill airline in the country added another feather to its cap on November 21, 2006 when the airline recorded flying 3 million passengers to their desi#B50229 destinations since its inception on May 23, 2005. SpiceJet achieved this milestone with its 10 new generation Boeing 737 – 800 aircrafts, making it the only domestic airline with the highest average of 3 lakh passengers per aircraft.
Even in the existing foggy conditions, SpiceJet achieved one of the highest load factors of 88 percent in December 2006. With an overall market share of 9% SpiceJet remains an undisputed leader in load factor among all the domestic airlines. It also holds a record for highest load factor achieved by any airline based in India, with all time high 95.4 percent passenger load factor achieved on April 18, 2006.
On this remarkable achievement by the airline, SpiceJet’s Vice President Sales and Planning, Mr. Sanjay Kumar said, “We are highly thankful to our passengers for their overwhelming response. On-time performance and reasonable fares have enabled SpiceJet to achieve the highest load factor among all airlines in India.”
Sharing SpiceJet’s plans from Hyderabad, Mr Kumar said that “as promised, with the commencement of our 10th aircraft we have connected Hyderabad to Jaipur and Ahmedabad. With 11th aircraft, which will be inducted by end of this month, we are planning to introduce a new sector from Hyderabad to Kolkata with Hyderabad being the base station”.
SpiceJet is also introducing additional morning – evening flights on Hyderabad – Mumbai sector and morning – evening and late evening additional flights between Hyderabad and Bangalore.
