SPICEJET ADDS FIFTH AIRCRAFT TO ITS FLEET
Daily flights to increase by 50%
New Delhi, November 15, 2005: SpiceJet recently announced that it has finalised arrangements to add fifth aircraft to its fleet. The fifth aircraft has been taken on short term lease from Transavia and has been especially deployed for the south region covering the new routes of Chennai & Hyderabad. The fleet will further expand with deliveries of brand new Boeing 737-800’s and some additional long term leases, starting in January 2006.
With this additional aircrafts, SpiceJet will be bringing its low fare airline to several new markets in India. The details of additional networks, which will increase the number of daily flights by over 50%, will be available over the next few weeks.
On the occasion, Mr. Siddhanta Sharma, CEO SpiceJet, said, “The inclusion of the latest Boeing 737 – 800s is in line with our initial commitment of procuring 20 new generation aircrafts. Our plan of expanding SpiceJet’s network is on track and we will continue to add new cities to our route network as our fleet grows”.
