SpiceJet bags ISASI award
Capt. A. Ranganathan’s wins the Award of Excellence.
Delhi, September 21, 2005: SpiceJet’s Capt. A. Ranganathan was recently awarded the coveted “Award of Excellence, ISASI 2005 Best Seminar Paper, For Outstanding contribution to the Advancement of Technical Methodology in Aircraft Accident Investigation” at the International Society of Air Safety Investigators forum in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
He was invited to present a paper on airline safety norms which was adjudged as the best seminar paper. The title of the presentation was “Wet Runway Operations” and covered the recent wet runway overrun accidents.
In his presentation, Capt. Ranganathan shared his insights about international air safety and various norms that need to be adhered to while operating on Wet runways. He presented at length the growing need for transparency in air safety and changes in investigation criteria, regulations for Wet runway operations and importance of setting up of a knowledge bank that airline operators can access to upgrade air safety measures.
On receiving the award, Capt. Ranganathan said, “It is indeed a great honor not only for me and SpiceJet but for the Indian aviation industry at large. We are finally being recognized for work on air safety”.
