SpiceJet Website Flooded with High Traffic Volumes
New Delhi, 26 August 2005: SpiceJet received higher than expected traffic volumes, in excess of 2,500 concurrent users, on its website after opening reservation for its winter seat availability effective 31st Oct 2005 until 31st Jan 2006 as well as releasing 9,999 seats for Rs. 999 as “Red Hot Specials” with effect from 9 am on 26th August 2005.
Responding to the same, the CEO Mr. Mark Winders said “I apologize for the inconvenience caused as some of our customers would have experienced problems with online bookings as the server was flooded beyond capacity in the morning. Due to a minor technical difficulty, our Nov – Jan inventory which was to be available at 9 am was not available approximately until 9:45 am. We took all measures to maintain smooth traffic flow and had the systems fully functional by late morning”. He further added “I would like to extend my personal appreciation to our customers who have given us such a terrific response and patronage and we shall ensure that we continue to offer the best to our passengers”.
