SpiceJet Launches No Frill services

Pune, 2005: India’s premier low cost carrier, SpiceJet has launched its services on the increasingly popular Pune – Delhi sector with effect from 13 June, 2005 onwards. Additionally, SpiceJet has also launched services from Pune to Bangalore and this is going to provide much needed relief for frequent travellers looking to cut costs and travel time between these cities. With the addition of Pune, SpiceJet has now expanded its daily operations to the 5 cities of Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Bangalore and Delhi. SpiceJet will be operating its standard Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft in an efficient all economy 189 seat configuration.

The Spicy Fares of SpiceJet for Pune – Delhi ranges between Rs. 1399 to Rs. 6199, whereas the Spicey fares for Pune –Bangalore ranges between Rs 999 to Rs 4399. While the starting fare is barely Rs. 170 higher than AC III Tier fares, at the higher end of the spectrum, SpiceJet fares are almost 40% cheaper than regular airlines. On the very first day of opening its reservations, SpiceJet received an overwhelming market response. SpiceJet sold 37,348 tickets in a single day which is the largest number of tickets ever sold by any airline in Asia on the first day of their booking.
