Shri Praful Patel flags off SpiceJet

New Delhi, May 24, 2005: SpiceJet, India’s latest low cost, no-frills airline, was flagged off today by Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri. Praful Patel on the Delhi – Ahmedabad – Mumbai route with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft in an efficient all economy 189 seat configuration. The Spicy Fares of SpiceJet for this sector range between Rs. 1699 to Rs. 4899. On the very first day of opening its reservations, SpiceJet received an overwhelming market response. SpiceJet sold 37,348 tickets in a day which is the largest number of tickets ever sold by any airline in Asia on the first day of their booking.

Dedicating SpiceJet services to the nation, Mr. Mark Winders, CEO SpiceJet Limited, said, “India is at the threshold of a dynamic phase of development.
