SpiceJet gets AAI approval for parking slots in Mumbai and Delhi
7 March 2005, New Delhi: In a significant development, Airports Authority of India has given the all-critical permission for overnight parking slots to SpiceJet, the low fare, no- frills carrier brand from Royal Airways Ltd.. The Airports Authority of India has allowed two overnight parking slots at IGI airport, New Delhi and one slot at CSI, Mumbai. SpiceJet is now on track for a May launch with the necessary parking slot approvals and the impending arrival of three Boeing 737 – 800’s in April.
Disclosing this development, Siddhanta Sharma, Chairman Royal Airways added, “Keeping in mind the likely competition in the aviation sector and the current infrastructure limitations in Mumbai and Delhi, this approval will be a significant competitive advantage for SpiceJet and will enable us to commence operations on schedule”.
