Royal Airways, having just announced the launch of its brand SpiceJet, had more to reveal about its new low-fares airline.

The Company has now executed letters of intent to lease its first three Boeing 737-800 Jet aircraft.

The company has decided to operate with modern Boeing NGs after lengthy research and study. Having weighed all considerations, Boeing has been chosen as it best meets the airline’s needs and its low-cost focus.

Commenting on this decision Mr. Roger Page EVP – Engineering stressed on efficiency and maintenance as the key considerations. ‘While operating low-cost airlines, there is very little margin for error and we need more than 100% out of every aircraft’. While explaining how Boeing met their needs best he concluded, ‘These aircraft are best equipped to spend more time in the air, and less on the ground – one of the keys to success of a low-cost airline.’

Capt. J. S Dhillon, EVP Flight Operations elaborated on how Boeing was best suited to handle intensive operations in trying Indian conditions. ‘Maximising flying time is a big challenge and Boeing’s endurance levels will meet them well’ He added that the airline is employing highly innovative techniques in flight management and that Boeing would be just right to execute them.

SpiceJet intends to use the benefits from a young and modern fleet, backed by cutting edge technology to bring world class air travel at the lowest cost to the growing Indian middle class. They already have in place a team of experienced professionals led by CEO Mr. Mark Winders, who recently announced the launch of the SpiceJet brand.

SpiceJet plans to be operational in May with the promise of offering ‘Flying for everyone’.
